Simy Nwankwo provided the match-winning assist as Salernitana 1919 came from behind to beat Venezia in a thrilling Serie A contest on Tuesday.

Salernitana came from behind to record their second three points of the season at the Stadio Pierluigi Penzo.

While Simy stated from the bench, his compatriot Joel Obi was among the starters and he lasted for 76 minutes.

Venezia took the lead after 14 minute, after Sofian Kiyine and another Nigerian David Okereke combined to set up Mathia Aramu.

Cristian Molinaro sent a low cross from the left, and David Okereke’s dummy let it through for Aramu who smashed it into the roof of the net from 14 yards.

Okereke almost added the second five minutes later. The on loan star skipped past two defenderz, before firing a low short, but Vila Belec managed to gather it.

Federico Bonazzoli equalised for Salernitana on the hour mark, following an assist from veteran Frank Ribery.

With Venezia down to ten, after Ethan Ampadu was shown a red card by the referee, Salernitana’s coach Stefano Colantuono decided to throw in Simy Nwankwo for Federico Bonazzoli.

The away side grabbed the winner as Venezia goalkeeper Sergio Romero completely missed a cross from the right, which Nwankwo Simy nodded down at the back post for Andrea Schiavone who drill it home for his first ever Serie A goal.
