Defenders won the game, not Okereke – Venezia’s head coach Paolo Zanetti

David Okereke scored the winner as Venezia continued their incredible run of form in the Italian Serie A.

Okereke, a Nigerian international scored for The Lagunari to give them all three points over Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Sunday.

Speaking after the game, Venezia coach Paolo Zanetti believes Venezia’s defenders played the most important role in Bologna than his attackers.

“We were helped by an important performance from the rest of the team, but we won the game thanks to them,” Zanetti said at a press conference.

“We worked a lot on set-pieces and I deployed players who could be up to the task physically. We conceded a few opportunities, but they were never too dangerous.”

Okereke joined Venezia on loan from Club Brugge and he’s been one of the outstanding players in the team — scoring four goals in the league.
